Lamplit London is a guide to the upper end of the city after dark: where to dine, where to drink, where to stay, and how to carry an evening off well.
We write for people who would rather get it right. The reader we have in mind is busy, often visiting, and more interested in a table held quietly and a room with the right light than in the loudest opening of the week. We leave the tourist trail to others and concentrate on the places that reward a little knowledge: the conservatory at the back, the booth worth asking for, the bar that still holds a table at eleven.
How we choose
Every recommendation is made on its merits. We favour first-hand knowledge over press releases, and we would rather publish a short list we believe in than a long one we do not. When somewhere is genuinely worth your evening, we say why, plainly. When it is not, it does not appear.
Read our full editorial method, including how we test, how we stay independent and how we keep our guides current.
Honesty about how this works
Lamplit London is funded, and we tell you exactly how on our funding and ownership page. That funding never buys a place on a list. Where a page carries advertising, it is labelled as advertising, upfront.
Who writes Lamplit London
Our guides are written and edited by the Lamplit London editorial desk, a small team that spends its evenings doing exactly what these guides describe: eating, drinking and staying well across the city. We visit anonymously, pay our own way and recommend on merit alone.
