The Lamplit London Luxury Index 2026

Knightsbridge is London’s most expensive place to spend an evening. Some 80% of its notable venues sit in the top price tier, ahead of Mayfair on 64%, according to the inaugural Lamplit London Luxury Index, our editorial ranking of 1,553 of the capital’s most notable bars, restaurants and hotels across 75 neighbourhoods.

London’s most expensive neighbourhoods

We sorted every venue in the Lamplit London guides into three price tiers: ££ accessible, £££ upscale and ££££ top tier. Each neighbourhood is then ranked by the share of its venues that reach the top (££££). The 47 neighbourhoods below each have at least ten notable venues in our set.

What the numbers show

The golden postcodes. Knightsbridge (80%) and Mayfair (64%) are in a class of their own, home to the likes of The Emory and The Berkeley and 1 Hotel Mayfair and Mandarin Oriental Mayfair. See our Knightsbridge and Mayfair bar guides.
The Soho paradox. Soho has more notable venues than any neighbourhood we track (69), yet only 6% reach the top tier. London’s nightlife capital trades on character, not price.
Hotels lead the bill. Of the four venue types, hotels carry the highest average price tier, ahead of restaurants, then bars.
Where London stays affordable. Camden, Peckham, Brixton and Borough have no top-tier venues in our set at all: the city’s best-value neighbourhoods for a notable night out.
The overall split. Across all 1,553 venues, 227 sit at the top tier, 678 are upscale and 648 are accessible.

Method & data

The Index covers 1,553 bars, restaurants, hotels and clubs featured in the Lamplit London guides, each assigned to one of three price tiers by our editors and grouped by neighbourhood. It is an editorial price-tier classification of the venues we cover, not a survey of every establishment in London, and our set skews toward notable and higher-end venues by design; the ranking is therefore most meaningful as a relative comparison between neighbourhoods. Neighbourhoods with fewer than ten venues in our set are excluded from the league table. Data current to June 2026.
